Dentures
Your natural teeth help you in biting and chewing. Besides mastication, teeth also help in giving volume to your facial muscles, cheeks, and lips. Once the natural teeth start falling, the cheeks start to fall inside, the face sags, and the natural anatomy of the face takes a toll. Besides having difficulty in eating, a person starts losing confidence.
Well, if you are facing a problem like this and we have the right solution for you.

Madhav Multispecialty Dental Clinic has been providing affordable denture solutions to our patients in Ulhasnagar.
Dentures are replacements for the missing tooth and soft tissue structures.
The different types of dentures are:
- Conventional dentures: They are given after the natural teeth have fallen or have been extracted. Adequate time is given for healing to the tissues which may take a few weeks and then the procedure for the fabrication of dentures is started.
These can be of two types:
- Complete dentures: When all of the natural teeth are lost, complete dentures are given in such cases. This takes support from the underlying alveolar bone and soft tissues.
- Partial dentures: When some natural teeth are in a good condition, we retain them. A partial denture is fabricated that takes support from teeth and the rest of the soft tissues.
- Immediate dentures: These are immediately delivered the same day as the teeth are extracted. You do not have to be edentulous for a long time. However, during the healing period, your denture fittings might change and these dentures would need to be changed or relined for a better fit.
- Overdentures: Sometimes your natural teeth can be retained and the dentures can be delivered over them. These remaining underlying teeth can provide support to the denture. The presence of teeth also helps in the conservation of the alveolar bone.
- Implant-supported dentures: When all the teeth are missing, we can give you four to six implants in both arches. A denture can be fitted over them with the help of the screws. These are removable appliances and can be removed by the patient. This is a great option for someone who is looking for affordable implants supported prosthesis.
Our staff under the expert guidance of Dr. Ritika Wadhwani would evaluate the patient thoroughly and then guides them well about the best denture options available.
Steps involved in the fabrication of dentures and the number of visits required
A patient would have to visit us approximately 6-8 times for the complete denture fabrication. The time required for a partial denture fabrication would be less. The various steps involved are:
- Impressions: This is a two-step procedure, wherein the impressions of the jaws are taken. In the first sitting, the primary impression is done during the first visit. Once that is done, the impressions are sent to the lab to get the secondary trays. After that, the secondary impression is done.
- Jaw relation: Once the impressions are done, the inter jaw relation is taken for a complete evaluation of the distance between the jaws. This is done so that the teeth placed are in complete coordination with each other.
- Trial: After the jaw relation is complete, the teeth are mounted on a temporary plate and checked in the patient’s mouth. Once the trail is fine, then the teeth are sent back to the lab for final fabrication of the denture.
- Denture delivery: Once the dentures are back from the lab, they are delivered to the patient.
- Checkups: The denture takes some time for adjustment. We recall our patients and make sure that they are perfectly comfortable with the new prosthesis.
How long does it take for getting used to dentures?
Dentures are the prosthesis that covers your hard and soft tissues. The oral cavity takes some time to adjust to them. It would take you around 10-15 days to get used to the dentures. We would guide you well and would help you have a smooth journey towards accepting the new dentures.
Instructions after the delivery of the denture
- If you are a first-time denture wearer, then do not start eating food immediately from your dentures. Wear your dentures for 5-6 days so that intraoral tissues get used to them. Remove them when you eat food. You can start eating soft food after a week and then eventually switch to hard food.
- Always make sure that you put your dentures in water after you remove them from your mouth.
- Your dentures need cleaning too. Clean them every morning with a brush. You can use denture cleaning powder once a week.
- Handle your dentures with care. Be gentle when you remove them and protect them from falling on the ground.
- If you feel that your dentures have fractured or broken, report back to your dentist and do not try to fix it yourself.
- Rinse after every meal to make sure that food does not get stuck in the dentures.
How costly are the dentures?
The various materials used for the complete dentures are acrylic and vaalplast. For a partial denture, acrylic, vaalplast, and metal are used.
Our labs provide various qualities of teeth for dentures.
The cost of the dentures depends upon the material being used.
